I found this sign in Peddlers Mall, in Frankfort, Kentucky. It caught my eye because of the strong black contrast against the off-white pegboard. It combined sharp cutouts and a heavy, strong metal with a gritty surface that embodied the spirit of what America was founded on: rebellion.
History has a way of repeating itself. I like to entertain Mark Moss’ thesis of humanity’s 250-year cycle of governments centralizing power to the extent of inciting a rebellion. In America, we’re almost at that 250-year mark from 1776. Mark believes that the mysterious invention of Bitcoin arrived just in time to shunt capital away from the fiat system which will slowly bleed out government funding. He believes that the sparks of conflict occurring around the world represents a sign of this rebellious spirit growing. He describes number of smaller 50-year cycles that are aligning at a critical juncture of human history–a juncture he believes will occur over the next decade.
Zombie movies have prepared us for a world without government. Aside from flesh-eating zombies, the focus should be directed toward food, shelter, water, and bullets. I don’t know what will happen for sure but the doomsday-preppers may have their moment to shine. It makes sense though. Everyone’s focus will be to provide for and protect their families. Mark believes this will be a dark time in human history, especially for those completely dependent on the government. Lines will be drawn between people and states. Conflict will occur. Violence is monopolized.
A period of enlightenment traditionally follows the dark times. One belief is that dark times produce the brightest minds. I believe this is true. It’s always overcoming adversity that sows that seeds of greatness. If the great monopolies of contemporary thinking machines are dismantled from the centralization of power, then those minds would be free to pursue an independent path that returns power to the people. A grass-roots type thinking that plants the seeds of thought in fertile ground made possible by the dark times. Like a cleansing forest fire clearing out all the old and festered thinking and making room for the new. Happy Independence Day and welcome to the rebellion.
